Colic includes all diseases of the digestive tract. You can recognize them by the fact that the horse is restless, scrapes its forelegs, tries to lie down and hits its stomach. The most common cause is an intestinal obstruction, which can be caused by stress or a change in diet. If you have the slightest suspicion of colic, call the veterinarian immediately. Treatment can cost up to €5,500.

The splint bones are two bones that are only as thick as pencils, consequently fractures of these thin bones occur relatively quickly. In this case, surgery under general anaesthesia is unavoidable. The treatment costs here are as much as €1,500.

Osteochondritis dissecans is a disorder of the growing cartilage and causes fragments to detach from the joint surface and ossify in the joint. The most common consequence is that the horse is lamed. The costs for this disease can run up to €2,000.
